Schroders launches tokenized emerging markets debt fund on Solana with Centrifuge
The $1 trillion-plus asset manager brings its emerging markets bond strategy to Solana, expanding the range of onchain actively managed funds.
Global asset management giant Schroders, overseeing more than $1 trillion in assets, has partnered with blockchain infrastructure platform Centrifuge to launch a tokenized emerging markets debt fund on the Solana blockchain. The fund brings Schroders' established emerging markets bond strategy onchain, offering investors exposure to sovereign and corporate debt from developing economies through a blockchain-native format.
The move represents a continued push by traditional financial institutions into tokenized real-world assets. Centrifuge, which specializes in bringing institutional credit products onchain, has previously facilitated similar structures for other asset managers seeking to digitize fixed-income strategies. Solana's high-throughput, low-cost infrastructure has increasingly attracted institutional interest as a settlement layer for tokenized financial products.
The launch expands the growing universe of actively managed onchain funds, a segment that has seen rising participation from established asset managers over the past two years. Tokenized funds allow for programmable compliance, faster settlement, and potentially broader investor access compared to traditional fund structures. Emerging markets debt, known for its complexity and active management requirements, marks a notable step beyond the simpler tokenized money market funds that have dominated the space.
Observers will be watching whether the fund gains meaningful traction among institutional and accredited investors, and whether Schroders plans to extend additional strategies onto blockchain rails following this initial launch.
