Ripple secures full MiCA CASP authorization for crypto services across 30 EEA countries
Ripple secured full MiCA CASP authorization from Luxembourg for regulated crypto services across all 30 European Economic Area countries.
Ripple has obtained full authorization as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, according to a report from The Block. The license was granted by Luxembourg's financial regulator, enabling Ripple to offer regulated crypto services across all 30 countries within the European Economic Area (EEA).
MiCA, which came into full effect in December 2024, established a unified regulatory framework for crypto asset service providers operating across EU and EEA member states. Under the framework, a company that secures authorization in one member state gains the ability to passport its services throughout the entire bloc, eliminating the need for separate licensing in each jurisdiction. Luxembourg has emerged as a favored hub for firms seeking MiCA authorization due to its established financial infrastructure and regulatory clarity.
The authorization positions Ripple to expand its institutional and enterprise-focused services — including its XRP Ledger-based payment solutions — to a significantly broader European client base under a single regulatory umbrella. The development signals continued institutional momentum around MiCA compliance, as crypto firms race to secure passporting rights ahead of a maturing European market.
Observers will be watching whether Ripple's European expansion accelerates adoption of its cross-border payment products among banks and financial institutions in the region, particularly as regulatory certainty under MiCA continues to attract both established players and new entrants to the market.
