Bitwise fund is first Solana ETF to hit $1 billion AUM

The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF, trading under the ticker BSOL, crossed the $1 billion assets under management milestone on Friday, August 28, according to The Block. The fund reached this threshold in less than a year since its launch, becoming the first Solana-based exchange-traded fund to achieve the benchmark.

BSOL is structured as a staking ETF, meaning it not only provides investors with exposure to Solana's SOL token but also generates yield through the network's proof-of-stake validation mechanism. This approach differentiates it from simpler spot ETFs, offering a product that reflects a more active participation in the underlying blockchain's economics. Bitwise, a digital asset management firm with a broad range of crypto investment products, launched BSOL amid growing regulatory openness toward crypto-linked exchange-traded products in the United States.

The milestone signals continued institutional appetite for crypto assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, which have historically dominated regulated investment vehicles. Solana's reaching the $1 billion AUM mark through a staking product suggests that investors are increasingly comfortable with yield-bearing crypto instruments in a regulated wrapper, a development that could encourage competing asset managers to accelerate similar offerings.

Looking ahead, market observers will be watching whether other Solana ETF competitors close the gap, and whether BSOL's growth trajectory prompts additional filings for staking-based ETFs tied to other proof-of-stake networks.
